The Psychic World
Everyone has psychic ability, whether it is recognised and acknowledged or not. What is psychic ability though (often described as the sixth sense), and how does it differ from mediumship? Even the word psychic itself can be confusing and with individuals describing themselves as 'psychics' and even 'psychic mediums' it is no wonder there is so much confusion on the subject.
An encyclopaedic description of the word psychic is as follows : psychic - " The word 'psychic' comes from the Greek "psyche" and pertains to the mind or soul. Commonly the term is used today by people referring to the paranormal, occult or supernatural. Psychics are sensitive to subtle changes within the bio-electric magnetic fields that surround all living things, and are able to fine tune this talent'.
A simpler definition of a psychic is someone who will use their intuition, their awareness of energy (either of an individual or of circumstances), and an appreciation of the universal spirit (something that connects all living energy) to provide a reading, or information. Readings can be for purposes of guidance, confirmation and even predicting future possibilities. The psychic may use tools such as tarot or psychometry to assist with this process or will simply link in to the auric field of an individual to access the information that a psychic needs.
As with mediumship, a psychic will receive the information in different ways such as pictures, sounds, and feelings (see Mediumship for more information) and will be able to give information to the sitter such as what has happened in the past, what is happening in their lives today, and also possibilities and probabilities for what may happen in the future. Please note that I say what 'may' happen in the future as I do not believe the future is pre-ordained and can be altered by free will.
